I'm also considering doing a "Boarding Action" style map from Halo 1, but instead using the big ravine on Forgeworld as the gap. I want to place tons of ramps and rooms and buildings into the sides of the mountain...
OR
make a whole new Boarding Action map suspended in the air...it'd be a SHIT TON of work...

Just a forge tip, if you are placing a piece that you want others to match up with, before you let go of it, hit the "edit coordinates" button. Then if you put a piece kind of close next to it, but can't get it perfect, and you just press the "edit coordinates" button again, it will automatically fix the piece to match the other, without having to edit any values.

I am currently attempting to make an invasion map, though I am kind of confused as to how it all works still... Has anyone here made an invasion map and knows generally how it works?

Also, my project is running slow BUT I did a little work on it yesterday...very little, but I think it added a lot to it. Think Olympics. LOL

Spent another 2 hours today in the forge. When my g/f first saw the map she thought it was small. She just looked at it now and was shocked at how big it's getting. It's now getting BIG. I hope to turn it into HUGE, soon.

Also, can you actually create an invasion game?

My map hit a small hiccup....it's toooo big LOL I had to downsize it a little LOL Apparently there is a set limit to how many gigantic walls I can use. It's near the 100 mark LOL just to give you an idea of the size of this thing, if you boost a ghost through the map, it takes two full boosts to go around the map. CRAZY. I'm going to see if I can make it slightly bigger. it all depends on how many of the 4x4 flat blocks I use up.

I am also debating enclosing the entire map to make it completely dark inside. Have some flashing red lights around it to make it spooky...may not have enough big pieces to do that, though.

It may or it may not. I noticed when I was moving massive walls around that when I blocked the sun I was in shade, or what seemed to be shade. I'll build a small box and spawn inside it to see what happens...


EDIT**** So I am wrong. Even though I blocked the sun out, there is still light. I may end up having to do some experimenting with the lighting FX if I want that spooky feel.

So, I find that Color Blind, Purple, and Green give it that VERY spooky feel. Unfortunately you can't see the glowing, throbbing red lights...

On my new version of techno tombs I used juicy and purple and old timey. The juicy and purple make it uber dark an mysterious and old timey when mixed with the previous two makes it look like you're having hallucinations, and it's freaking creepy and awesome! I also made that one gametype naz and I always played on it Twisted Evil

Now that the tombs is up and running I've been working on a BTB map which I have christened Clifflund! Each base has a teleporter which leads to an "armory" (basically two box bunkers stuck together hovering about an inch above the water in a scenic location) which contain extra ammo for starting weapons as well as a couple power weapons. So far all I have left to do is finish the red base and set the spawn points, flag crap, and kill zones and it'll be ready for abuse!
