Yeah ok, that's one of the biggest bummers about forge... the light source doesn't ACTUALLY come from anywhere...

Maybe it makes it really laggy or something. I dunno, I ain't a programmer.

I'm now down to the joys of balanced weapon placement and kill zones...though I still need to make a secondary bunker thing for the red team...

I placed a few vehicles to figure out what would work best with the game style I want to develop. So far I kept it very simple yet it will be true to the game type.
Still putting walls up, though. I have 69 4x4 flat blocks left and I HOPE I make it around the map....otherwise I'm boned.

I recommended it on XLive but here it is from my FB. It's an aerial view of HALF of the field. As the title implies, I am basing my map off of the great Circus Maximus. The pinnacle/dish in the middle was going to be lit in blue flames by using man canons but they wouldn't let me use enough to make it look cool. Instead, I opted for the red/pulsing red lights. I will also be adding a touch of the Colosseum to it, too. I'm considering making this map a dual role map, both wide open vehicle fighting big map AND CQC down underneath the map. My only concern is that no one will be fighting up top and everyone will fight CQC.

Just run a few test games and see how it flows, sweet looking map btw.

Clifflund may not be done for some time as most of my game time today was spent vacating the house because my mom thought it would be a wondrous idea to make homemade dog biscuts...out of LIVER, which to those who don't know smells insanely strong of cat piss and vomit when it's in the oven. I kid you not.

Thank you, thank you Smile I think I am up to 5 hours spent total on this map actually working on it.

Yeah, I don't think saving a little money by making your own biscuits is worth the stench. I do not envy you in the slightest especially cuz your dog is gonna fart like crazy, too.

Awesome awesome, I'm going to have to take a homework break and check out your map.

I've been getting myself accustomed to the new forge, and I'm really liking the toolset and how everything works now. I'm pretty sure when I have time (like winter break maybe) I'll really put some time into it and make some more maps for custom games.

Circus Maximus was originally designed to be a 16 player, BTB map. We only tried it out with 4v4. The addition of the underworks was meant to mock the Colosseum where there were animals and various things below the main floor that could affect the main floor game play, hence the Falcon and the Rockets/weaponry. In doing so, I created a cqc map below since i wanted to give a fair chance of acquiring the weaponry but instead it just unbalanced the map completely and took the game away from the main goal: vehicle whipping-around madness with the struggle of survival.
I'm considering remodeling the Circus Maximus. Perhaps I made it to BIG. lol I'm thinking of removing the bottom portion all together, removing the Falcon, adding machine gun warthogs, removing the gauss, adding more turrets to the blue team side, and removing the Cove Tank. The gauss 'hog unbalanced the game completely. I knew they were powerful but not THAT powerful. Originally I figured the cove tank could handle the gauss hog and perhaps that would balance out...that didn't happen.

Toast showed me the map you guys are working on. Although a work in progress, at least make it look good and smooth. You have nothing lined up together, but instead bridges and ramps sticking through platforms. If the map game play ends up sucking like mine did, at least it'll look good LOL

So Bungie is having a map building contest. OH YEAH. I'm taking part. I will be submitting two maps I hope. First is a revitalized, refinished Circus Maximus, and the second is Project Water Buffalo, an Invasion style map of epic proportions that deals with todays pirate issues in the ocean.

Me and Toast are working on an awesome night time Beach Assault Invasion map. We got the preliminary stuff out of the way, objectives placed, vehicles and things, and all the structuring is basically done.

I have to fix the spawn zones cause the Invasion Phase spawn zones don't want to work, so I'll have to use backzones that only appear during certain phases. Other than that I think its pretty good.

We ran a few test on it, we need to run more but I want to potentially play it with you guys.

I know your pain, I just got done with my midterms and I have a test in Com tomorrow.

I'm working on multiple maps now. The Invasion one is mostly done. Just gotta fix the first phase spawns, and some vehicle spawns and it'll be ready to play. Its pretty fun.

The other map I'm working on is going to be an assault map I think. I could always make it an Invasion map too though since assault objectives work with that.

Yeah, I've been playin FFXIII.... and after my birthday I'll be all over TFU 2... and I get extremely discouraged when ALL my friends are Lt. Colonels because I go and have a life for a WEEK.
