The Reach Armor Thread!

YAY!!! Since there's a crapton of armor in Reach I figured we could use a thread in case we ever wanted to banter about each others armor.

In my case, it has been difficult for me from the beginning, whatnot with the precious EVA helmet in the armory from the start, yet it will not be available until I become a Major

So, until then I've gone with the EOD helm with CNM, UA/BASE SECURITY chest, GUNGNIR shoulder pads, FJ/PARA knee pads (which I hope to soon replace with GUNGNIR pads), and the UA/BUCKLER wrist attachment (kinda pricey for what it is, but it's a nice, if only subtle, touch; it'd be nicer if it was for BOTH wrists).

I haven't spent ANY credits on anything yet. Saving 'em all. I want to earn the achievement Make It Rain which, I'm not sure what is unlocked at that level. Also, none of the armor I want is available yet.
The more I look at the GUNGNIR helmet the more I realize it's hideous LOL. But it's completely different. The base Commando, though, looks slick. It's different but sans all the weird shit that completely ruins the helmets for me if they just didn't do that; i.e. the bald head look of the Pilot...WTF? the UA version looks cool but the others blow, OR the little eyeball on the GUNGNIR....WHY?!!!! did they HAVE to add that...fucking retarded..then you have chubby cheeks of the CQB or that weird ass protruding tongue on the CQC...WHY? just make it profile with the rest of the helmet and it'd be tits. Or that stupid "beak" on the ODST...did Bungie decide to make the helmets look ALMOST awesome? "Gee guys, these designs are TOO good. How about we add stupid shit to them so this way they're ALMOST cool looking?"

Anywho, the look I'm going for:
Helmet: Commando Base OR my fall back EOD base.
Shoulders: Commando. I may do one Commando and one Sniper. Not sure...
Chest: Collar/Breacher . LOVE the shotgun shells up front with the knife.
Wrist: Undecided...Either Breacher or TACPAD I guess....
Utility: CHOBHAM...i guess.
Knee Guards: PARA. Love the squared off look.

Either way I'm sure it's a credit heavy get-up.

The thing is red, you're going to be waiting a LONG time to get commando. It takes 33,000 credits for each of the warrant officer ranks and 66,000 to become a CAPTAIN. Nobody really knows when commando is unlocked in the armory, but if you're patient enough and you really really want it, continue to save.

I may just stick with my current armor for now, I'm surprisingly content with it, I look like a cross between a security guard, a hazmat guy, and a tank LOL.

Also I shall post screenies! I haven't done that in AGES.

Make it rain requires you to buy something that is unlocked by Lt. Colonel. From the Private rank, you need 580,000 credits in order to get to Lt. Colonel. It will be a long time before you get that achievement red, I promise you that.

Yeah, you may as well buy something you like that's currently available, it's not like you're going to be short on credits.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind John's voice. But, I see no point in spending credits till the armor I want comes up. No armor available at the moment impresses me to the point of "gottahav."

In my case I just buy the stuff I like first and then just buy the rest for the sake of completion.

I buy what looks cool when I see it, leaves me with a little variety so I can switch it up every now and then, and I'm never dissatisfied with my look, I'm currently waiting to get those ODST shoulders though, they look rather sexy

I'm saving up for the silver visor now, everything else I want is at captain and higher.

nooooooooooooooooooooooooo don't tell me that!!!! now I won't spend any points and wait till they come out with new shit!!! But the JFO with black visor is a sweet idea. I'd have to see it first but in order to do that I need to level up first LOL

I'm currently trying to level until I can buy me some ODST shoulders, I have 38,000 credits or so saved, so it shouldn't be a problem to buy them once I unlock them, after that I may look around for a different helmet... I love ODST, but I feel like it's too... easy for everyone to have so I am having second thoughts about keeping it forever

I'm well on my way to captain now ("only" 20,000 cR to go...) and the only conceivable thing I'd buy at captain would be the gungnir knees.
